This fine English clock (c. 1780) was made for the Chinese market and has a marble base with ormolu decoration, ormolu brass feet, and an automaton scene. It is believed to be crafted by Paul Rimbault, who worked in London from 1770 to 1785. Rimbault was known for his exquisite musical clocks, particularly for the Chinese market, and some examples of his work may be found in the Forbidden City collection, Palace Museum, Beijing.
