This handsome pattern recalls a working drawing (ca. 1905) in The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection for a lampshade by Louis C. Tiffany (1848–1933). Starting in 1898, the celebrated designer adapted his method of making stained-glass windows to the production of artful lampshades, frequently inspired by natural motifs. The Dragonfly Lamp was a popular Tiffany Studios design.
