This gorgeous mirror from Japan, Meiji period (1868-1912), is made of patinated bronze, in a circular shape with bamboo-clad handle. The detailed non-reflecting part is decorated in relief with an aquatic landscape in which you can see a crane, a turtle and a pine tree, all auspicious symbols of longevity. It is signed "Fujiwara Yoshikane".
The wooden box is decorated with gold and red lacquer on a dark background with a shrub with berries; the lacquered wooden support, not pertinent to the mirror, is decorated with gold with a series of lozenges.
