With the crystalline beauty of a geode, this richly textured sculpture is a treasure of kiln-formed reclaimed glass, pigments and variegated copper foil, created through an extensive multi-step process. This piece is handmade by glass artist Mira Woodworth, a lifelong student of the Arts and Crafts movement that was popular at the turn of the 20th century. A response to the Industrial Revolution's machine-made signature on daily life, the Arts and Crafts movement celebrated artists for bringing excellent design to common household decorations and for making fine art accessible to everyone.

The sculpture includes a raw steel stand that is individually welded to artfully display the sculpture. The steel stand will develop surface rust over time creating an artful juxtaposition between the stand and the glossy surface of the glass. The steel stand is intended to change over time, gradually darkening and achieving small amounts of surface rust. It is possible to achieve the surface rust sooner; simply wipe the stand with a damp sponge periodically without drying to introduce water.

To clean, dust with a moist cloth. Avoid allowing water or any other liquid to seep into the texture of the bowl as it may dislodge metal leafing if allowed to soak.
